Tim is 20 years old, and was born in Caerphilly. He is currently in his final year
of a 3-year B(Mus) Music degree in Cardiff University. He started playing brass
when he was 8 - his primary school teacher asked him if he wanted to learn the cornet.
Soon after this, he joined the BTM junior band.
When he was 13, he was invited along to a senior band rehearsal, and joined the
band soon after. He quickly changed to Tenor Horn as the 2nd horn position was vacant.
When he was 15, he changed again, to Baritone, because the 1st Baritone seat needed
filling - and he has played Baritone ever since.
Tim has two favourite playing memories with BTM - his first Regionals contest in
Brangwyn Hall, Swansea when he was 15, and being promoted to the Grand Shield in
2005 after the band's stunning performance of "Harmony Music".
Tim has been a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Wales since 2003, and
has been Principal Baritone of the Band for the last 3 years. He has been on 4 courses
with the band, including a 10-day tour of Canada.
Non-brass band achievements include being awarded the title of Caerphilly County
Young Brass Musician of the Year in 2006. He also toured Germany with the Caerphilly
County Wind Band as a guest player in the same year. Tim's other interests include
snooker, pool and football. He can also play the piano, to Grade 8 standard.
