Matthew has moved to Cardiff from Northamptonshire, East Midlands, to study the
Tuba at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Prior to this, Matthew was principal
Bb Bass for 3 years in the Northamptonshire County Youth Brass Band and was also
a member of the wind orchestra and symphony orchestra.
He and 3 other members of the Brass band created a Tuba quartet which they all ran
between them. They took part in the National Festival of music for youth and where
rewarded my being invited to play in the School proms 2008 at the Royal Albert Hall.
Matthew was also a member of Raunds Temperance Brass Band in which he also sat principal
for two years, and was privileged to have competed with them in many contests.
Matthew intends to further his playing under the direction of Nigel Seaman and would
like to become a Music teacher as his chosen career.
Since starting the Tuba at 14, he has also taught himself to play the flute, clarinet
and saxophone, and strangely enough also loves to play the violin to which he has
grade 7! |
