Kate comes from Newport and has been a member of BTM band since 2003. Kate wanted
to play the flute when she was younger but ended up playing trumpet instead. In 1991 she started playing the tuba and has never looked back.
Kate has been a member of the National Childrens Orchestra and principle Eb bass
with the National Youth bands of Wales and Britain. She has also been a member of
the National Youth Orchestra of Wales. Kate entered many solo competitions as a
teenager and became Welsh solo champion in 1994 and 1995. Kate also became the British Tuba Champion
in 1997.
Kate studied at Trinty College of Music in London and came back to Wales to study
for her P.G.C.E.. Kate is now a music teacher in Bedwas High School. |
